Korean Holidays

While explaining White Day, Black Day and Pepero Day to a friend of mine, I discovered that there is a holiday for each month on the 14th Day.

According to Wikipedia, these are the holidays:
1/14 Candle Day
2/14 Valentine's Day
3/14 White Day
4/14 Black Day
5/14 Rose Day
6/14 Kiss Day
7/14 Silver Day
8/14 Green Day
9/14 Music Day
10/14 Wine Day
11/14 Movie Day
12/14 Hug Day

Can anyone explain what happens on these days? I know that they aren't real holidays and that most of them were created as a way to generate more business for the various industries and it's just an excuse for couples to show their "lurve" but besides going out to dinner, what is supposed to happen?

For example: Candle Day. Are you buying candles for your boy/girl friend? Are you buying them together? Are you lighting them? Are you making them? If you buy someone a Jesus candle , does that hold less or more significance than a pink Roman pillar?

Thanks in advance.

I think it's just to make sure that couples actually go on a date every once in a while. If you've been to Korea, you know how busy people are there.
Black day is the only non-couple oriented holiday. It's for single people to meet up, comiserate over their single-ness, and eat jjajangmyeon (black sauce, hence black day). I think in social settings it serves the purpose of providing singles with the opportunity to meet.

You don't want to hear the other suggestions my friends came up for these holidays.

As explained by my students:
1/14 Candle Day - buy significant other a decorative candle.
2/14 Valentine's Day - buy significant other candy, stuffed animals, go on a date, etc.
3/14 White Day - buy or make white chocolate/candy for significant other.
4/14 Black Day - buy significant other Jjajangmyeon. (It's supposed to be a single's day, my students seem to count it as a couple's day anyway.)
5/14 Rose Day - buy significant other roses.
6/14 Kiss Day - kiss, and/or buy significant other hershey's chocolate kisses.
7/14 Silver Day - buy significant other silver jewelry.
8/14 Green Day - hike, camp, do something outdoors. (It's during the month of August, hot sex out in the wild season.)
9/14 Music Day - buy significant other a cd or listen to music together.
10/14 Wine Day - buy significant other wine.
11/14 Movie Day - buy significant other movie or watch a movie at home.
12/14 Hug Day - give significant other a hug.

I thought 1/14 was supposed to be Diary Day since it's the beginning of the year - buy significant other a diary and mark all the birthdays, holidays, and special anniversaries (100 days together, 200, 231, or some strange number, etc.)

And there's 11/11, Pepero Day - buy significant other a box of Pepero. I went through the whole list with my students and made them come up with cheaper ways to celebrate special days with a significant other, since the range we calculated for a year-long relationship was like 650,000-1,000,000 won. That's well beyond their means, they'd need a parental bailout, especially with silver day and wine day.

I will ask them what the specifics are. I can't remember if there's a special color or number of roses they're supposed to get on that day. If you have any specific questions for each day I can ask them.

Thanks. I figured there were some unspoken rules about the "holidays".
Now, go and enjoy your movie day. Hope it's fantastic!

My Korean prof also told us about a "Blue Day," which comes a couple months after Black Day, which is when singles go out to get jjajangmyeon and hopefully score a date with other hungry singles. And the purpose of Blue Day is to hang yourself because you're still single and lonely.

...He sort of laughed when he said this, but I'm still not sure if he was joking. ^.^;
